Christmas With a View

I think Katy (this blog's co-founder) and I both watched this movie the same day and immediately started texting each other our opinions. However, we had different thoughts about it's quality. I thought it wasn't so bad once you get through the first eight minutes or so but Katy hated it all the way through.  Source Our story begins with Clara, an overworked restaurant manager who devotes all of her time to a mountain resort's fine dining. She, of course, is a disappointment to her mom and has suffered various mysterious losses in her life including something to do with Chicago and her dad who may or may not be dead. I was actually finishing up writing about this one when I got a text from a friend as follows: That does indeed sum up just about every movie in this genre. But I digress. The other half of our romantic duo comes to us via a terrible green screened TV cooking show. This is the part of the movie you just have to grit your teeth and get thr...

Christmas Wedding Planner

I knew before I started this movie that it would be a hard one to finish. I can't exactly put my finger on why but I just knew it was going to be terrible. I think it has something to do with the producers paying a lot of money for one of the periphery characters to be a well known actor which takes up all of the budget they have for making the movie of any actual quality. In this case they have Kelly Rutherford ( Gossip Girl ) as the demanding aunt and I feel like it left them with no money for a script writer or a set designer or other humans with any talent of any kind. Source I began watching and was not surprised to see that my intuition was right on the money. I only made it 30 minutes in before I had to shut it off. If it weren't for this blog I would never have turned it back on. It took me about a week and a half to get up the courage to dive in again. As soon as I did I remembered that Joey Fatone (yes, from N*Sync) has a cameo in this garbage gem. It j...

The Princess Switch

When I saw this movie pop up on Netflix this morning I knew exactly what I was going to do during my toddler's nap time. I feel like Netflix is doing a great job of parceling out their holiday movies one at a time so we have to keep coming back to see what's next. I watched the short preview for  The Princess Switch  and thought - okay, it's  The Parent Trap  at Christmas with a prince mixed in- and I was sort of right. Source There are three words that describe this movie: Predictable Awkward Bad accents Our movie begins with Stacy, a talented, neurotic baker who runs a small bake shop in Chicago. Kevin, her best friend since high school, runs the shop with her and is doing his best to cheer her up following a bad breakup. Kevin and his daughter enter Stacy in a baking competition in the fictitious country of Belgravia. Stacy refuses to go at first (you can't be spontaneous even if it's an international baking competition that will surely change...

The Holiday Calendar

A couple weeks ago I saw that Netflix was beginning to advertise their holiday movies and my tummy gave a little tickle! I love this time of year and you all know how much I LOVE the cheesy holiday rom-coms! I text the co-creator of this blog and we decided it was time to resurrect My Two Biddies. I have already had people asking for my recommendations this year so here we go- the first official holiday review of the 2018 season! Source Holiday Calendar begins with our main character, Abby working in a cheap photo studio. It doesn't seem like the worst job ever but her parents are constantly pressuring her to join their law firm where she will inevitably suffocate from lack of creative outlet. As a surprise, Abby's best friend Josh turns up in the photo studio fresh off 18 months of travelling around the world writing a travel blog. They are 'strictly friends' but we all know things aren't going to stay that way. At her family's Christmas decor...
